The 14th matchday of the Frauen-Bundesliga couldn’t have gone worse for last-placed 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam. Heading into this match, they were already sitting at the bottom of the table with only one point to their name. Facing first-placed Eintracht Frankfurt was never going to be an easy feat, and ultimately, it proved too big a challenge for the team from Brandenburg.

The game actually started promisingly for Potsdam—they even won a corner kick in the first minute. But things quickly went downhill from there.

Eintracht launched a counterattack right from Potsdam’s corner, which resulted in a foul on Elisa Senss that would’ve been a penalty, had Geraldine Reuteler not converted the loose ball into a goal in the 3rd minute.

Just three minutes later, Laura Freigang added another goal to the tally, scoring a beautiful header after a cross from Lara Prašnikar.

In the 11th minute, Freigang assisted Reuteler, who made it 3–0 for Frankfurt, leaving Potsdam no chance to build their game.

Lara Prašnikar—who assisted Freigang’s goal in the 6th minute—added her own name to the scoresheet in the 23rd minute with a goal after an assist from Remina Chiba.

Going into halftime after conceding four goals without scoring any of their own, things didn’t look too bright for Potsdam.

To make matters even worse, Flavia Lüscher received a straight red card in the 70th minute after a challenge on Frankfurt´s Carlotta Wamser. Reduced to 10 players, Potsdam had no answer as Frankfurt slotted five more goals past their goalkeeper, Vanessa Fischer.

Shortly after the red card, Prašnikar directly converted the resulting free kick into Frankfurt’s 5th goal in the 72nd minute.

In the 80th minute, Anna Aehling assisted Nicole Anyomi, who struck a powerful shot that was too much for Fischer to stop, making it 6–0.

Just three minutes later, in the 83rd minute, Chiba and Prašnikar reversed their roles from the 4th goal, with Chiba now making it 7–0 for Frankfurt.

Unfortunately for Potsdam, Emilie Bernhardt’s hard challenge on Carlotta Wamser resulted in a penalty, which Lara Prašnikar calmly slotted home to secure her hat trick and make it 8–0.

But Prašnikar wasn’t done yet. To cap off the game, she delivered a great corner kick to assist Pernille Sanvig in the 90+2 minute, who scored her first goal.

The game ended 9–0 for the hosts, Eintracht Frankfurt, cementing their place at the top of the Frauen-Bundesliga table. They remain level on points with FC Bayern Munich but boast a significantly better goal difference of +43 compared to Bayern’s +26.

Potsdam, on the other hand, are still last. Escaping the relegation zone is only two points out of reach, but Carl Zeiss Jena, who currently occupy that spot, still have a game in hand.

If the scoreline wasn’t enough proof of Frankfurt’s dominance, the match statistics tell the full story. While Potsdam had just 22% possession, Frankfurt controlled 77% of the ball. Frankfurt also recorded 40 shots compared to Turbine’s three.

After this heavy defeat, Potsdam don’t have much time to recover, as their next opponent, 5th-placed RB Leipzig, awaits them on Friday.
