The FA Cup continues at Kingsmeadow this Sunday with Chelsea facing off against Everton in the 5ht round proper for a chance to play in the quarter finals.
The hosts remain in impeccable form, as they have been for the entirety of Sonia Bompastor’s management. Coming off the back of a mid-week win against West Ham to send them to the finals of the Subway Women’s League Cup, they go into this match with an average of 2.8 goals in their last five matches. It will be interesting to see how much more playing time Keira Walsh will get after signing for the Blues in the transfer window. She made her debut against Aston Villa last weekend, where the team only won from an own goal, coming on to replace Lauren James in the 78th minute of the match. Since then, she made her full debut with the Blues against West Ham on Wednesday, after which Bompastor said “she did well, she had a great game”.
The Toffees are also faring well at the moment, with an average of 1.8 goals per match. They only have one loss in their previous five matches, a 2-0 loss against West Ham in Round 12 of the WSL.
Honoka Hayashi continues to be the team’s top scorer, with three goals so far this season in the WSL. Some of their new signings are faring well, and it will be interesting to see whether or not their newest signing, Maren Mjelde, will play against the blues.
In total, these two teams have played each other a total of thirty-eight times, with Chelsea winning twenty of these previous matches. The teams have only ever drawn once, meaning that it is likely to be a definitive win this weekend.
Will the Toffees be able to claim a victory from the Blues, or will it be another Chelsea win? The match is available to stream on the FA Player this Sunday (9th of February), with kick-off at 3:00pm.
