Match Preview: Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Bayer 04 Leverkusen

First against third in the Women's Bundesliga. Eintracht Frankfurt host Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Both teams are level on points at the top, with Frankfurt in first place due to the better goal difference. A duel of two teams who have impressed with impressive performances this season.

Leverkusen are playing an outstanding season and have completed the first leg almost perfectly. Roberto Patzold's team only had to suffer a 3-2 defeat to reigning champion Bayern Munich. With 9 wins, 2 draws and a goal ratio of 21-9, Leverkusen have exceeded expectations. 

Danish striker Carnelia Kramer in particular stands out with six goals and is a key player for the team. During the break they beat the Belgium team Anderlecht with 1-0 and fc Villareal in Spain with 1-5. 

Eintracht Frankfurt, led by Niko Arnautis, also have an impressive record of 9 wins, 2 draws and only one defeat. Their surprise loss to Werder Bremen was the only blemish on an otherwise solid season. 

With 38 goals scored and only 5 conceded, Frankfurt have the best offensive and defensive record in the league. Laura Freigang, with 11 goals and 3 assists, and Nicol Anyomi, who has 6 goals and 5 assists in 12 games, are among the standout players. Frankfurt had two friendlies’ during the winter break, beating the Spanish club Sporting de Huelva 4-0 and league rival 1. Fc Köln 7-1, highlighting their impressive form. 

On Game Day tow, both teams played out a thrilling 2-2 draw. Caroline Kehrer and Kristin Kögel scored for Leverkusen, while for Frankfurt, Géraldine Reuteler and Remina Chiba scored the goals. This duel showed that both teams can operate on an equal footing.

With two teams in top form and with similar records, it should be a close game. Frankfurt, however, have a slight advantage thanks to their home strength and better goal difference. Still, Leverkusen could spring a surprise with their compactness and efficiency.
