On Sunday at 2:00 PM, TSG Hoffenheim will face FC Bayern Munich at the Dietmar-Hopp-Stadion. While Hoffenheim is fighting to stay in contention for the top spots, Bayern arrives as the second-placed team, aiming to avoid any slip-ups in the title race.
Hoffenheim currently sits in fifth place with 20 points, trailing fourth-placed Leverkusen by nine points. The team delivered an impressive performance in their last match, securing a dominant 3-0 victory against Freiburg, with Jill Janssens scoring twice and Selina Cerci adding another goal. Cerci is the team’s top scorer with six goals, while Erëleta Memeti leads the team in goal contributions with four goals and four assists. Over their last ten matches, Hoffenheim has won seven times and suffered three defeats, a solid record overall.
Bayern sits in second place with 32 points, level with league leaders Frankfurt. In their last match, Alexander Straus’ team secured a narrow 1-0 win over Leipzig, thanks to an early goal from Magdalena Eriksson in the 11th minute. Pernille Harder leads the team in scoring with six goals, while Klara Bühl has been their most productive player with five assists and four goals.
Bayern has been in excellent form recently, winning eight of their last ten matches, with one draw and one defeat—both coming in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Towards the end of the transfer window, Bayern also secured a loan deal for Arianna Caruso from Juventus until the end of the season. The 25-year-old midfielder is expected to help compensate for the injury-related absence of Georgia Stanway.
Historically, Bayern has dominated this fixture, winning 18 of their 23 meetings, while Hoffenheim has only managed three victories, along with two draws. Their last encounter ended in a convincing 5-1 victory for Bayern, with Pernille Harder netting a hat-trick, alongside goals from Georgia Stanway and Sydney Lohmann. Selina Cerci scored the lone goal for Hoffenheim.
Statistically, Bayern has the clear edge. They average 2.62 goals per game from 16.85 shots, whereas Hoffenheim scores 1.85 goals per match from 13.54 shots. Defensively, Bayern concedes just 0.77 goals per game, while Hoffenheim allows 1.38 goals on average, making them more vulnerable at the back.
Bayern enters this match as the clear favorite, but Hoffenheim has already shown this season that they can compete against strong opponents. To stand a chance, they will need to remain compact defensively and be clinical in front of goal. However, if Bayern displays their usual attacking firepower, another win for the reigning champions seems the most likely outcome.
