With Chloe Kelly's shock announcement earlier in the week, it's safe to say that all eyes will be turned to the race for the Champions League between 3rd place Man City and 4th place Arsenal. With only 1 point separating both teams, they'll be looking to apply the pressure on League leaders Chelsea…
City have only won 2 of their last 5 in the WSL, with Gareth Taylor's side recording 3 losses to close the tally. With wins against Aston Villa and Leicester respectively, the Sky Blues lost against Everton, Manchester United and Chelsea, City will be looking to change their latest stream of results. Jamaican international and superstar Kadijha ‘Bunny’ Shaw leads the way in the WSL having netted 9 goals so far this campaign, with Aussie Mary Fowler following closely having scored 4. Fowler, who scored in City's 4-2 win against Aston Villa is certainly a rising star. Yet with the announcement of English icon Chloe Kelly the other day, the Sky Blues will be looking for someone to fill her shoes. City will be looking to have the lead in their double fixture against the Gunners as they're set to play each other once again four days later in the League Cup…
Arsenal will be making the trip to the Joie Stadium this Sunday and will be looking to go ahead of City in the WSL table. 4th place Arsenal have 24 points with a Goal Difference of 19- 6 above Manchester City. Outstanding Alessia Russo is in pole position in leading scorers having out the ball in the back of the net 7 times. Norwegian star Frida Maanum is in runners up having scored 4 so far this season. From their past 5 matches, Renee Slegers’ side have come out victorious in 4 with wins against Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Liverpool and a loss against League leaders Chelsea. Due to Katie McCabe's red card against Chelsea, one Arsenal key player is set to miss the crucial game this weekend.
Their arena is set to be the Joie Stadium, Manchester with kick off at 12.00pm GMT. If you're unable to get to the match, it will be shown live on Sky Sports. It's safe to say that's it's a race for the League title and the Champions League!
