Tottenham Hotspur v Leicester City Match Preview WSL

Tottenham Hotspur are set to face Leicester City at home on Sunday 19th January 2025 in the WSL this weekend, and it’s set to be an exciting fixture with only 5 points separating both teams.

 

Spurs, who are currently sixth in the league, with 11 points have won only 2 out of their last 5, with the other 3 games ending up as losses. It’s safe to say the Lily whites are up to changing the tides of these latest results. Renowned player Bethany England leads the way for Spurs in the top scorer's category, netting 5 goals already this campaign. England, who signed from Chelsea in 2023 scored 13 goals in 14 games in all competitions earning her Adult & Junior Supporters Player of the Season for that campaign. After being named club captain in September 2023, it’s safe to say she’s certainly a standout player, and will be looking to add to her tally of goals. Leading the way in assists is another stand out player- Eveliina Summanen. The 26-year-old midfielder currently has 2 assists in the league, making her joint 6th so far this campaign in the WSL. Spurs are trailing by 6 points to 5th place Brighton and will be looking to close the gap to the Seagulls.

 

Leicester are currently 11th in the league, hanging on by a thread as 12th place Crystal Palace trail by one point. They'll be looking to add to their tally as they chance for safety. In the league, the foxes have lost 4 out of their last 5 and earned a 1-1 draw with league leaders Chelsea.

Yuka Momiki, Jutta Rantala and Missy Goodwin lead the way for Leicester in the top scorer as they've each hit the back of the net once this campaign.  Missy Goodwin also leads the way in their top assists table, recording 2 so far this season. Goodwin, the young star signed with the Foxes back in 2022 and has recorded a number of 54 appearances for the club. The young forward has represented the England team through her youth career and is certainly one to look out for.
