Lia O’Leary has signed a long-term contract with Women’s Championship side Bristol City subject to international clearance.

The Ireland U-19 captain, has recently spent time trialling WSL teams, Everton and Crystal Palace, but has made the decision to start her next chapter with the Robins. She will join up with fellow Irish international, Chloe Mustaki, as Bristol City aim to finish the season with promotion to the WSL, after relegation last season.

Robins Head Coach Steve Kirby has said,

During her two seasons at Shamrock Rovers, O’Leary made 48 appearances, scoring 11 goals, as well as picking up a collection of awards at club and league level. She was named the 2023 Players’ Young Player of the Year and also picked up the league’s Young Player of the Year award. Before joining The Hoops, the 18-year-old was a product of Shelbourne’s academy, and was part of the 2022 league and cup winning side.

The winger will be hoping this move will help her break into the senior squad for her country in the coming years.

O’Leary could be in contention for this weekend’s away clash against Arsenal in the fourth round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, subject to international clearance being obtained.
